Indian Vegetarian food in Bukit Bintang

After staying for two and a half months, I came across certain indian restaurants in Bukit Bintang where you can get vegetarian food. Note that the restaurants also have the non veg section but placed separately from the veg section. If you are very specific about the kitchenware used to cook veg & non veg separately (These places also serves Beef) ; I cannot confirm on this. I personally being an eggitarian never mind the cooking vessels used as such. Coming back to the topic, I have to say that the taste was very much the ones like we get in India. In fact  some were delicious.

Here are a few I came across in Bukit Bintang:

1. UK ASIA
Look for green lit board to locate UK Asia. It is located on Jalan Bukit Bintang opposite CIMB Bank. I usually never noticed this place since my attention was always grabbed by the music bands which play across the street. This place has usually 3 varieties of veg curries separated from the non veg ones.  I personally love all the veg dishes here. The Rotis & chapati’s are decent The Nans come with sesame seeds on them. A meal with 2 veg curries 2 rotis & one large ice tea cost me around 10RM. Food is self served and it is a buffet system. Downside is the cashier seems very rude but she is one talented lady who speaks many languages.

2. Paradise restaurant.
Paradise restaurant is located just next to UK Asia (Jalan Bukit Bintang). I was very pleased with the Roti here. The curry was good too. My personal favorite now. The place is much cleaner and big enough It is similar style and service to UK Asia like buffet and service. 2 Totis 2 curries and ice tea cost me 9 RM. Ice tea was more ice than tea, But the food was good. The place has nice setup from hand wash to tissue paper,  toothpick . The outside part of the hotel is not maintained well with the restaurant name incomplete (see picture) all credit to the new MRT digging which almost took the charm of this street.

3. Eat More
Eat More is also located on jalan bukit bintang. It is at the end of the road across UK Asia & Paradise restaurant This is the place most affected due to the construction work. This is a pretty decent place ,actually neat as well. It is huge place and has a same buffet system. A lady stands all day at the entrance to welcome the customers (see photo). The food here is good and has the biggest Rotis and Naan . I came across around 4 veg curries here. So had to choose. The cost for 2 veg curries & 2 Rotis with ice tea came across 10 RM but the good part was the Rotis were bigger.
This place is less heard about but has all the qualities of Indian & Pakistani food.

4. Jalan Alor
This is a a food street dominated by Chinese Thai & Vietnamese restaurants. But here & there you can find small veg snacks which will be  prepared & served. The veg & non veg here are not cooked in a vessel. They are burnt on the stick on a hot grill.

Malaysia is a country where all types of food are available and having a pure vegetarian dishes will be hard on running business. There are some Buddhist food places which exclusively make veg food, but they do not taste Indian and are found in mostly temple.

I write this blog since one of my friend and a family member is a pure vegetarian and had tough time finding edible veg food.

Bon appetit !
